Stutzman: "We Must Protect the Men and Women Who Defend Us Abroad From Sexual Assault Within Their Own Ranks"

Statement

Date: June 14, 2013
Location: Washington, DC

U.S. Congressman Marlin Stutzman issued the following statement today, supporting legislation to prevent sexual assault in the military and applauding Indiana Congresswoman Jackie Walorski (IN-02) for her efforts:

"We must protect the men and women who defend us abroad from sexual assault within their own ranks. The alarming rate of sexual crimes in the military is unacceptable and undermines our deepest principles as Americans. Today, the House took an important step toward addressing this problem by passing critical measures to combat sexual assaults in our armed services. I am proud to stand with my colleague Congresswoman Walorski who has worked tirelessly to ensure whistleblower protections for victims of these brutal attacks."
